i just finished reading the watchmen. if you've never heard of this, its a graphic novel written by alan moore, and is arguably the greatest of its medium. i'm not going to say that its the best graphic novel i've ever read, but it is one of the best. this is an anti super hero story with lots of commentary on politics and society throughout. the plot wasn't what i was expecting at all, but the whole story blew me away, and left with a lot to think about. the movie adaptation is on its way,(you might have seen the trailer for it before the dark night)and it looks like it'll be jam up. so if you like comic books or not, this is a good read.

i think the watchmen movie looks like it follows the graphic novel closely.
i absolutely loved the book, and i'm almost sure that i'll love the movie too.
i'm looking forward to a top 10 graphic novel list from you and/or josh.
i can't wait to see that movie. the first graphic novel i ever read was rent girl...and it got me hooked.
i just started v for vendetta and am looking forward to reading the watchmen. i also want to read the spirit novels, too.
and i agree with caleb. you and josh should do a top10 graphic novel list. that would be amazing.
If you haven't already, you should check out the Flight graphic anthologies. Lots of variety. I stumbled across the fourth volume at a local library and was blown away. "The Forever Box" by Sarah Mensinga was superb. And the first graphic short story had no dialogue, but was beautiful.

FLIGHT 5 preview
When I first saw that trailer, I was really confused, then a friend who is more in tune with graphic novels explained some stuff to me. So, I will watch the Watchmen...when it comes out.
I have to say that I disagree about making the book into a movie. The problem lies with (as Terry Gilliam put it) "the book is unfilmable." Sure, it might be a good movie (the LOTR movies were good), but Watchmen has way too many things that belong in the medium of Comicdom (the Black Freighter storyline, the constant flashbacks, etc.) that I just don't think it really belongs anywhere but on the page.
